Fabrication and erection of the steel structure for a 4,176 m² commercial building, with more than 145 metric tons of steel, located in an upscale area of Blumenau/SC. The structure combines steel columns, bracing, and steel deck slabs, which provided faster construction and reduced self-weight, in a solution integrated with the project’s architectural concept.
Challenges
Built on a sloping site on the riverbank, with limited space, the building required a structural design developed to optimize the use of the lot while remaining in harmony with the architectural concept. The columns start on top of the retaining walls, which resulted in a gain of usable area and better use of indoor and outdoor spaces. Strategically positioned bracing ensures overall stability without compromising the architectural language, and steel bracing elements embedded between the walls made it possible to achieve the spaces envisioned in the design, without visual interference. The large clear spans serve the parking areas and commercial units, providing greater flexibility of use and better circulation. Erection required meticulous logistical planning, due to the space constraints of the construction site and the difficulty of positioning lifting equipment.
